Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2026

Recovering Hipster LLC, doing business as Recovering Hipster ("Recovering Hipster," "we," "us," or "our"), respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit recoveringhipster.us or shop with us, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights available to you. By using our site, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

We collect a few different categories of information depending on how you interact with Recovering Hipster:

  • Information you give us directly — your name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number, and any message you send through our Contact form or newsletter signup.
  • Order and payment information — items purchased, order total, and payment confirmation. Payment card details are entered directly into PayPal's secure checkout and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
  • Account and communication history — if you email us or submit a product review, we keep a record of that correspondence so we can respond and maintain quality customer service.
  • Automatically collected data — device type, browser, approximate location derived from IP address, pages viewed, referring website, and time spent on our site. This data is collected through cookies and similar technologies described below.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to: process and fulfill your orders; calculate shipping and confirm delivery; send order confirmations, shipping notifications, and tracking updates; respond to customer service inquiries and return requests; maintain and improve the performance and security of our website; detect and prevent fraud or abuse; and, where you've opted in, send you occasional emails about new arrivals or promotions. We do not use your information for any purpose incompatible with these uses without asking for your consent first.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help our site function and help us understand how visitors use it. We use strictly necessary cookies to keep items in your shopping cart and remember your session, and we may use analytics cookies to understand aggregate traffic patterns like which pages are most visited. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time; note that disabling essential cookies may prevent the shopping cart and checkout from working properly. A short cookie notice is also shown the first time you visit our site, linking back to this policy.

How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share information only with service providers who need it to help us run our business, including: PayPal, to process payments securely; shipping carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx), to deliver your order and provide tracking; and analytics providers, to understand site usage in aggregate, non-identifying form. Each of these providers is contractually limited to using your data only to perform services for us. We may also disclose information when required by law, such as in response to a valid subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Recovering Hipster, our customers, or the public.

Data Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Our site is served over HTTPS with SSL encryption, and payment processing is handled entirely by PayPal's PCI-compliant infrastructure. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain order records, including the personal information tied to them, for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy and to comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations — typically up to 7 years for financial records. Marketing communication preferences and contact-form messages are retained only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry, unless you've asked us to keep you on our mailing list.

Your Rights (CCPA/GDPR and State Privacy Laws)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or similar state privacy laws. These rights can include the right to: know what personal information we have collected about you and why; request a copy of that information; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions; opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information); and not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@recoveringhipster.us with your request, and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law, generally within 30–45 days.

Marketing Emails and Opt-Out

If you sign up for our newsletter or opt in at checkout, we may send you emails about new inventory, promotions, or store updates. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time without affecting your ability to place orders or receive transactional emails like order confirmations.

Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is currently no industry-standard way to respond to these signals, our site does not alter its data collection practices when it detects a Do Not Track request.

Third-Party Links

Our site may occasionally link to third-party websites, such as a carrier's tracking page or a social media platform. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies separately.

Children's Privacy

Recovering Hipster is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we've inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or regulatory reasons. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and we encourage you to review this page occasionally.
